Born in Kozhikode. Well known freedom fighter, statesman and diplomat. After independence he became the Indian High Commissioner to England and the Indian representative to the United Nations.

At the U. N, he created a distinctive impression by his extraordinary rhetoric. Went on to become India's Defense Minister in the Nehru's Ministry and was Instrumental in the modernization of India's defense system
