No evidence of Lashkar's Kerala link
T'PURAM, Oct 10: First came the astounding claim that militants from Kerala had been killed in an encounter in the Kashmir valley -- and now the turnaround. The J&K Police now say there is no definite proof of the identity of the two men killed in an encounter at Kupwara in north Kashmir. This is a complete switch from four days ago, when the police unofficially released the names of the men and identified them as Fayaz and Yasin from Malapuram district in Kerala. Now, they are refusing to release the pictures of the men killed. IGP Kashmir, B Srinivas, says: "We have not yet confirmed their identity, so it would be premature for me to say that they belong to one particular place. It is true that we recovered some literature which belongs to south Indian state and we are in touch with the concerned state police. As and when we get to know their identity we will get back to you and give you the details.'' Even in Kerala, the police have not yet come across any hard evidence so far. They claim the Kashmir police are yet to send photographs of the militants.

"The SIMI carries out outright hate campaigns which are anti-India and anti-people while the Bajrang Dal only has the motive to defend Hindu rights," he said while reacting to demands for imposing a ban on the Dal. "When the Centre is incapable of collecting enough evidence to ban SIMI, what evidence you think they may have against us," Sharma said, adding "in case they ban us it will have grave consequences for the government politically."

The greens were playing pure and true," Jeev said after sinking in five birdies and an eagle that was chipped-in from the bunker on the first hole.
