Janaki
was a child prodigy who took to singing at a tender
age of three. A strong believer in self learning,
she came up with sheer hard work and commitment
to music. When Janaki sings, her voice could match
the notes of Nadaswaram - even when the pitch reaches
a crescendo!
Her penchant for music was nurtured by her uncle,
who later introduced her to AVM studios. Her voice
is so captivating that during one of her performances,
people gathered to witness a nearby film shooting
joined her programmme. This got her the first break
as a playback singer and after that there was no
looking back for her.
The thousands of songs that she rendered as a playback
singer left a lasting impression in the hearts of
her fans, with hardly anyone who could match her
pitch and talent.
Recipient of innumerable awards, she has the remarkable
distinction of having rendered 12,000 songs in 14
different languages, a veritable feat indeed!
